The Taste of Cape Town was
held from the 3rd to 6th April at Green Point Cricket
Club. Sponsored by Pick and Pay the event attracted Gourmet hunters, foodie trend followers and avid
diner-outers. In the open air, the grounds were turned into a gourmet village
of taste-shaping restaurants, pop-up eateries and select producers of the
handmade, the rare and the downright delicious. Restaurant Scoins, the official
festival currency, was exchanged for a wide spectrum of flavours and foodstyles
from comforting classics to the avant garde. In addition to the special menus
of starter sized dishes offered by the festival restaurants, over 100 boutique
exhibitors, craft beer producers, wineries, ice-cream makers, charcuteries,
cheeseries and chocolatiers formed the playground of delicious morsels. Other
highlights included pop-up restaurants with their imaginative ‘here today, gone
tomorrow’ spirit.
